Trucks according to EU standards 2024

Since July 2024, further tightened regulations have applied to commercial vehicles as part of the EU’s General Safety Regulation (GSR).
While the first phase of the regulations has been in force for new vehicle types since July 2022, the scope of application was extended even further in July 2024.

The most important changes since July 2024 affect not only the series production of new vehicle types, but all newly registered vehicles, including existing vehicle models that are already on the market. This means that all new trucks sold or registered in the EU must now be equipped with the prescribed safety functions.

Important safety requirements since July 2024:

• Enhanced Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA): The system will be even more precise to ensure compliance with speed limits.
• Fatigue and alertness monitoring system: Systems that alert drivers to fatigue or distraction are now mandatory as standard.
• Emergency Brake Assist (AEBS) for various traffic scenarios: This technology will be further optimized to prevent collisions in a wide range of conditions.
• Improved blind spot monitoring: The systems for detecting pedestrians and cyclists in blind spots will become mandatory.
• Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS): Precise monitoring of tire pressure will be introduced to prevent tire damage and accidents.
